This is a particular problem in countries that have both high populations and low water availability or accessibility — such as those located in in Sub-Saharan Africa. Countries with low economic capacity are also commonly affected by water scarcity. Often, the solutions to water scarcity (digging wells, effective water catchment, and water distribution and treatment infrastructure) require significant financial investment.
