Goal 6 of the SDGs aims to give everyone clean water and sanitation. From 1990 to 2015, access to clean water rose from 76 to 91 per cent. In 2024 almost 73 per cent of the global population had access to clean water, on demand, in their homes. From 1990 to 2015 access to basic sanitation services rose from 49 to 68 per cent. In 2024 approximately 73 per cent of people had access to at least basic sanitation services. FIGURES9 and 10 show this progress.
