Goal 6 Some of the targets (by 2030) for Goal 6 are to: • provide universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all • ensure everyone has safe sanitation, especially women, girls and vulnerable people • end open defecation (in open areas, rather than a toilet) • improve water quality by cutting pollution, reducing harmful waste, and increasing recycling and safe water reuse globally • use water more efficiently and ensure everyone has enough freshwater to reduce water scarcity • protect and restore water areas like mountains, forests and rivers.
