Assistance and recovery Assistance and recovery efforts included the following.

• Disaster recovery payments and disaster recovery allowances were available to flood victims. • Disaster relief appeals and organisations including the Australian Red Cross, Salvation Army and GIVIT provided aid and assistance. • Community recovery hubs were established to provide additional support services to flood victims and their families, such as emergency accommodation and mental health support. • The Australian Defence Force assisted with cleanup. • The ‘Mud Army’, with 55 000 registered and thousands of unregistered volunteers, aided the cleanup.
