Sustainable Cities Index The Arcadis Sustainable Cities Index ranks 50 cities using a range indicators and organizes them into four categories: people (society), planet (environment), proýt (economy) and progress (sustainable initiatives), as shown in TABLE1 . The top ranked Australian city is Perth at 25. Only three other Australian cities feature in the top 100; Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane all rank within the top 50 cities.

Ecological footprint Everything we do impacts the environment. We clear land for food, raise animals, catch ýsh and use water for homes and farms. Most transport relies on non-renewable fuel like petrol. An ecological footprint measures how much land is needed to support one person. It compares resource use between countries.
