LESSON 17.1 Overview

INQUIRY QUESTION Why do people work and what types of work can they do? Why is work so important to society? There are many different types of work, workers and jobs. We all need to discover the right job for us. This can be difýcult to do. Some people will change jobs and careers numerous times throughout their working life. Your time at school will help you decide the type of work you would like to do later on in life. It will set you on the path to achieving that. A part-time job once you turn 15, work experience through school later on, and watching family and friends — all will contribute to you deciding upon your work path. In this topic, we will consider the different types of work, why people work, the role of entrepreneurs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in working, and our responsibilities as workers.
