800. 1947 W602 Sports Exchange Miniatures Stan Musial (HOF RC) - SGC VG-EX 4

Produced and sold by “The Trading Post,” one of the first hobby publications, the Sports Exchange “miniatures” consisted of 108 cards, sold in three series and sold for $1 per series. The different series are identified by the color of their borders (green, gold, and green). The cards featured black and white player images and blank backs, and included an interesting mix of present and past players. This example is one of the most important of the issue, featuring St. Louis

803. 1948 American Association Babe Ruth (HOF) - SGC PR 1 MINIMUM BID: $200

Cardinals outfielder/first baseman Stan Musial, at this point with five years of Major League experience yet no baseball cards. While Musial’s first mainstream cards would have to wait until 1948, he is featured on a few earlier, oddball issues, and those cards have been receiving significant attention as of late. This example has been graded VG/EX 4 by SGC, despite exhibiting very little wear, the grade likely related to the cut at the edges along with some minor surface wear. One of just six examples assessed by SGC, this is a seldom-seen rookie card of the Cardinals’ most beloved player.
