A NOTE FROM SYLVIA Welcome to November! I hope this month finds you well and ready to enjoy the warmth and coziness of home, as well as the exhilarating, brisk air of late fall. Whether you are bundling up for local fall festivals, savoring seasonal flavors or preparing for holiday gatherings, this is a time to reflect, connect and enjoy all that this season brings. This month, TPT proudly celebrates Native American Heritage Month. We are dedicated to honoring and preserving the diverse stories of our region, and we are thrilled to highlight the significant contributions of Native American communities in Minnesota and beyond. In addition to national programming and local content, we will also rebroadcast “The Electric Indian” on November 4 at 8 pm, a powerful TPT film about the life and legacy of hockey star Henry Boucha. You can find more Native American culture and history content at TPT.org/NAHM. November also marks the significant culmination of the election season. After months of staying up-to-date on the news and watching the debates, you can always count on “Almanac” to offer trusted context on local and national events, and on “PBS News Hour” to deliver balanced coverage of the election. This year, “Almanac” is also celebrating its 40th anniversary as the longest-running public affairs program in Minnesota and an important pillar of civic engagement in our community. Premiering this month on TPT, Ken Burns' “Leonardo da Vinci” brings to life the extraordinary story of the 15th Century Italian polymath whose boundless creativity and intellect have left an indelible mark on history. The film premieres on November 18 at 7 pm, and the second part airs on November 19 at 7 pm. Rounding out the month, we will premiere a new history film from “Minnesota Experience.” On November 26 at 7 pm, the two-hour documentary “Broadcast Wars” examines the broadcast news business in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, as ratings battles caused fierce competitive clashes between local stations and forever changed the news industry in Minnesota and beyond. In this season of gratitude, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued support of TPT. As we look ahead to more inspiring programs, educational opportunities and greater community impact, we invite you to consider investing more deeply in TPT’s mission as 2024 comes to a close. Your support will ensure that TPT remains a vital resource for all.
