The students use Adobe Premiere Pro which according to Dave Edwards it is “near enough to professional stand - ard.” So in this course you will be learning and experiencing what it’s like behind the scenes of a professional production company and how films are processed such as the planning, filming and the editing parts. From a students perspective, presentation is central as students showcase their projects to be assessed. Last academic year the course stu - dents successfully achieved a 100% pass rate. Many people love and have a passion for the film industry. But have you ever wondered what hap - pens behind the scenes of a film production? I’ve been speaking to the teachers and students on the HSDC South Downs UAL Level 3 Film & TV course. I interviewed one of the teachers, Dave Edwards for an overview of the course. He explained, “In the first year students focus on documentary filmmaking, and the second year is more about drama, script writing and story - telling.” He added, the first year of documenta - ry filmmaking is divided into 3 different projects and each term the students are introduced to a new genre, including news, music videos and fi - nally corporate videos for local companies. In the summer term students work on their Final Major Project. They can film whatever they want based on what they’ve learnt so far and showcase their skills and interests.
