These events can be seen as an opportunity for students from schools across the local area to have a chance of representing their school on a competitive scale. However, the 5g pitches are also used by the official Portsmouth FC Women’s first team to train on. This is one of a few relationships that HSDC South Downs sports facilities have with local and national sports teams. HSDC’s relationship with Netball Premier- ship team Surrey Storm Under 19’s . Stu- dents th at are leading on the Level 3 Personal Training for health fitness and per - formance vocational course, aid in the re - covery and the development of the athletic performances of the Surrey Storm Under 19 squad. The students that are on this course provide massages, recovery advice and sessions with players that may lack match fitness or may be struggling with any major or minor injuries, that may be affecting their perfor - mance as a whole. This opportunity is a big draw for HSDC South Downs, as Surrey Storm are arguably one of the most successful netball teams in the Netball Superleague and in England.

The Gym facility is available to Students, staff and the general public, along with the Fitness Studio located next door to the Gym, which is used for fitness classes that are available to book on the HSDC website. The Gym offers a vast range of equipment. i.e treadmills, resistance machines and free weights. Whereas the fitness studio offers a spacious area for fitness classes to take place, which are sometimes conducted by the Level 3 Personal Training for health fit - ness and performance students. The Sports Hall and climbing wall. The sports hall is mainly used by students that are part of any form of sporting or physi - cal based vocational Level 1,2 and 3 cours - es. The sports hall can also be available for booking to hire for staff members other students and the public alike. The climbing wall on the other hand, is mainly used by students who take part in any form of out - door/adventure vocational courses specif - ically, the Level 3 Outdoor and Adventure students. However, the climbing wall can in fact be available to hire for students of over courses, staff members and also the general public. HSDC South Downs sports facilities and its relationship with the local community and sport teams. The 5g football pitches located in South Downs park opposite the college itself, is used by all sporting courses (pref - erably football and sport based vocational course members) and they are also availa - ble to hire for students, staff members and the general public. The 5g pitches are also used by sectors within the local communi- ty. Schools within the County’s area some- times may take part in fun tournaments or sporting events.
