Finally I asked the students if they felt they were willing to talk to someone if they needed help with their mental health and all said yes, added that they know where because they know where they can go and who to talk to before anything progresses and gets worse. Hopefully from this you can see that if you are struggling at all with mental health you are not alone and there’s always someone to talk to at college whether it’s friends, your tutor or the college’s mental health team. However I’ve also created a tips list which you can check out for support at any time. 1. Talk about your feelings with a friend, teacher, parent or councillor. When you get your prob- lems out into the open it lifts the weight off your shoulders and they can support you to get help if necessary.. 2. Keep active with exercise because this helps to stimulate and keep your brain and organs healthy which improves mental health. Alternatively take up a hobby as this keeps your mind occupied and helps improve your mental health too. 3. Eat well. Try to avoid caffeine be- cause it can cause your anxiety to become worse. Also while eating you need to remember you need lots of nutrients to stay healthy and to func- tion properly. Include different types of fruit and vegetables, wholegain bread/cereals, nuts and seeds, dairy products and plenty of water. Having a healthy lifestyle, eating properly and exercising. By maintaining this it will make you feel better and improve your mental health.
