CASTORS TO FACE RANGERS IN NCJHL FINALS

The Gatineau-Hull Volant did manage to force a game seven, but the Clarence Castors finally got their fourth win of the series to earn a trip to the NCJHL finals, where they will face-off against the South Grenville Rangers. After winning the first three games of the series, the Clarence Castors lost three consecutive games against the Volant, but they finally managed to take game seven to earn a trip to the NCJHL finals. Games five and six went down to the wire, with both games being taken by the Volant in overtime. However, the Castors got back to their old habits in game seven, playing a perfect game defensively to shutout the visiting team and win 3-0. Jacob Servant, Philippe Plante and Cayden Martin scored the goals for the home team, while Jaddus Savoie, Alex Ross, Alderic Denis and Xavier Brunet notched assists in the victory. Castors’ Head Coach Tim Kosch admits he was on edge after the back-to-back losses in overtime: “It’s been a pretty intense couple of days, for sure. It felt like we had a breakdown over the last three games, so we really had to work hard to remind ourselves that we are still the best team in the league, and that everything is still in our favour.” But the Castors’ head coach is proud of what his team accomplished in the face of adversity: “Gatineau are a really good team. They remind me of our team, in a sense,

Les Nationals de Rockland ont connu une semaine difficile, ayant perdu leurs quatre derniers matchs contre les Grads de Navan (4-3), les Hawks de Hawkesbury (7-3), les Wolves de Renfrew (4-3) et les Bears de Smiths Falls (5-1). Les Nationals entamaient la semaine en affrontant les Grads de Navan à Rockland mardi le 15 mars. Les visiteurs ont été les premiers à s’inscrire au pointage en première période, pour ensuite prendre les devants à trois reprises durant le match, mais à chaque fois les Nats ont riposté pour créer l’égalité. Toutefois, après une période de prolonga- tion sans but, c’est finalement Alec Lovisek des Grads qui a inscrit le but vainqueur en tirs de barrage pour donner la victoire aux visiteurs. Guillaume Labre, Giovanni Morneau et Manny Cabral ont marqué les buts pour Rockland et Kyle Leonard, Dylan Blue, Yanic Crête, Patrick Lanthier et John Mulvihill ont obtenu des mentions d’aide durant la rencontre. Nationals 3 Hawks 7 Les Nats rendaient visite aux Hawks à Hawkesbury trois jours plus tard. Les Hawks ont complètement dominé les Nats 42-28 au chapitre des tirs au but, ce qui leur a per- mis d’exploser offensivement en deuxième période pour inscrire 5 buts et prendre une avance de 5-1 après 40 minutes de jeu. Les Nats ont réussi à réduire l’écart en troisième période, mais les Hawks ont réussi à conserver leur avance pour l’emporter par

Malgré un léger avantage pour Rockland au chapitre des tirs au but (28-24), les Bears ont su profiter de leurs chances en avantage numérique, inscrivant trois buts en quatre tentatives, pour remporter une victoire convaincante. Manny Cabral a inscrit le seul but des Nats durant la rencontre, son 10 e de la saison. Alexandre Fréchette et John Mulvihill ont obtenu des mentions d’aide sur le jeu. Les Nationals de Rockland occupent pré- sentement le quatrième rang de la division Yzerman dans la CCHL, 6 points derrière les Grads de Navan et 15 points devant les Colts de Cornwall.

Nationals 3 Wolves 4 Le lendemain, les Nats rendaient visite aux Wolves à Renfrew. Cette fois-ci les NAts ont été les premiers à s’inscrire au pointage en première période lorsque Yanic Crête a inscrit son 5 e but de la saison, aidé par William Collins et Giovanni Morneau. Cepen- dant, les Wolves ont répliqué avec un but en deuxième période et un autre but au début
