Team-building Review Topical
❖ Purpose: To encourage and teach positive communication between participants.
❖ Time Required: 10 minutes.
❖ Size of Group: Unlimited.
❖ Materials Required: A flipchart page; Post-It Notes.
❖ The Exercise in Action: Many people are reluctant to compliment others freely, says Kim Weiss, a computer training specialist at Nation’s Bank, Charlotte, NC. But peer encouragement is a powerful learning stimulant. To facilitate that kind of exchange and to teach participants to positively communicate with one another, Weiss creates a “post office” in her classroom. The post office consists of a flipchart page (or pages) marked with a square for each participant. The instructor puts a participant’s name under each square. Post-It Notes are
available to all partici- pants, either as part of their training packets or at each classroom table. Weiss encourages partici- pants to write down positive comments about fellow participants as they interact with them, and post them openly for all to read during course breaks.
