❖ Materials Required: Photos of existing conditions in a company.

❖ The Exercise in Action: Cheryl Medlyn, with retailer Crabtree and Evelyn, says merchandising and display is crucial to her organization’s success. In her training programs, she uses photographs and the approach of “What’s wrong with this picture?” The photographs allow participant teams to analyze actual store arrangements and suggest changes or improvements without leaving the classroom. Medlyn says the exercise could be used in any problem-solving course where participants are trying to solve existing workplace problems. By blowing up and tracing the photos, teams can cut and paste new arrangements without having to redraw or cut the original photographs.
