Team-building Review Topical

❖ Purpose: To encourage participants to build on each other’s knowledge during review sessions.

❖ Time Required: 15 to 30 minutes.

❖ Size of Group: 12 to 30, but participants should work in small groups of 3 to 10. ❖ Materials Required: Flipchart paper and writing materials for everyone. ❖ The Exercise in Action: Monica Beck, a trainer with BancOne in Columbus, OH, uses mind-mapping theory for a review technique she calls “World Web.” She separates participants into groups of 3 to 10, and asks each group to stand in front of one of several blank posters hung on the wall. Beck then assigns each group a product, service, or work procedure discussed in class, and designates a scribe to write the object in the center of the poster with a box or bubble around it. When Beck says begin, each team has two minutes to “web” or branch off that object any related characteristics or points they can recall from the session. When the two minutes are up, teams move on to the next poster until all teams have contributed to each review sheet. The class then reviews all the posters as a whole and makes additions or adjustments where necessary.
