Enjoying the Unexpected Triumphs Focused on Getting the Best Outcomes for Clients

I spent most of my childhood in Plano, Texas, and after graduating high school, I moved to a tiny town in Arkansas to attend Ouachita Baptist University. Like most college students, I had a hard time deciding what I was going to study. After much thought, I ended up majoring in education and English, thinking I would teach. Sometime during my junior year, I landed a job at a local law firm and started working for a solo practitioner. While working with him, I realized what a difference a good lawyer could truly make in somebody’s life. I felt inspired and thought about how noble of a career that could be, so I decided to go to law school instead of teaching. After graduation, I moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, to attend law school, took my classes at night, and worked at another law firm during the day. I did that for about four years — most lawyers do three, but since I was part-time, I did four instead. Once I completed law school, I found myself working in a law firm doing nursing home abuse and neglect cases. But after a while, my wife and I had this sort of realization that this was the time to do something drastically different. So, we packed up our entire lives and moved to American Samoa. For two years, I did general practice for all the people and businesses on the island, and it was a unique and enjoyable experience and something I’ll never forget.

Eventually, we returned to Dallas, and I spent the next four years representing businesses and disputes with others, and that was good until I had my son. As a new dad, I felt more responsibility to do right by my family, and I wanted to look for a place with different and better opportunities. That’s how I found myself in New Mexico, and it’s the perfect place for us as we enjoy being outdoors and doing all kinds of camping, hiking, hunting, and just enjoying the scenery when we have the time. I’ve been with Parnall Law since March, and before joining, I had never felt so welcomed by a team. They have made a most extraordinary effort to invite me to social and family events outside of the firm, and we even had a champagne toast when I received my New Mexico license! Everybody has been making it feel more like home, and I couldn’t have hoped for a better outcome. I thought being a plaintiff attorney would better fit me and my personality because I don’t see myself as a fancy corporate lawyer. I could never identify with their goals, and I struggled to connect with those clients. That’s why I made the shift to personal injury. Parnall Law was the perfect place for me because I wanted to work with lawyers who are focused on outstanding work product and getting the best results for their clients. After meeting the lawyers at Parnall Law Firm and seeing their work, I knew it was the best fit for me.

I think that every attorney has different strengths and weaknesses, but overall, I believe you just have to be a well- rounded person. Of course, you need to have good people skills, be a strategic thinker, pay attention to detail, and be a tenacious person because you’re going to run into roadblocks. Most successful attorneys are just well-rounded people — a jack of all trades, if you will — with legal acumen and an appetite to do right by clients! Though I have many more clients now than I had before, I find a lot of satisfaction when we’re able to get a good outcome for them, especially when it’s a tough case — it’s like a very fulfilling triumph. It’s happened many times since I’ve been here, and it’s such a gratifying experience.

Remember and Hon A Reunion With Those Who Have P

The idea of magic has captivated audiences for generations. Their tricks and illusions defy not only common reasoning but sometimes even death itself. While we’ve had the opportunity to watch some great magicians on television or at live performances in Las Vegas, few have left a greater impact on spectators than Harry Houdini. Houdini got his first taste of the spotlight when he was only 9 years old as a trapeze artist. Before long, he moved on to card tricks and then even started experimenting with escape tricks Remembering the World’s Greatest Magician And His Untimely Demise

The Day of the Dead — or Día de Los Muertos — is a celebration of life. With spirited traditions that largely take place across Mexico, Latin America, and the United States, family and friends come together to honor their lost loved ones.

It is a holiday where people gather to welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes delicious foods, drinks, and celebrations. The traditions

typically include gathering at cemeteries, building private altars, and assembling colorful floral decorations — which often include

using handcuffs — which proved to be a big hit. He continued to advance his escape artist skills until he ended up touring across America and Europe.

symbolic marigolds. Marigolds are known as “the flower of the dead” and are used to communicate to the spirits and placed on paths to aid the souls in finding their ways home. According to tradition, the gates are opened for passed relatives to rejoin their families for 24 hours. Families will create an altar — or ofrendas, meaning offerings — and leave out their passed relative’s favorite things such as food, drinks, photos, memorabilia, and anything else they would like their relative to take back with them to the Land of the Dead.

Although Houdini repeatedly defied death in his shows for a number of years, it finally caught up to him in 1926. During

a show in Albany, New York, Houdini shattered his ankle while performing his famous Chinese water torture cell trick. He finished the show and continued his tour, which took him to Canada where he gave a lecture in Montreal, Quebec. He spoke with some of

the students after, and someone asked about his alleged ability to withstand hard punches to the abdomen. According to a witness, Sam Smilovitz, when Houdini confirmed that the rumors were true, a student named J. Gordon Whitehead abruptly delivered “four or five terribly forcible, deliberate, well-directed blows” to Houdini’s stomach. According to reports, he’d been sitting — probably because of his recently injured ankle — and had no time to prepare for the punches. Houdini didn’t think twice about the incident, but later that night he reported discomfort in his abdomen. Despite worsening symptoms, he pressed on to Detroit, Michigan, and got a fever of 104 degrees F, cold sweats, and even fatigue. During the opening night of his show in Detroit, Houdini promptly collapsed. He was taken to the hospital where doctors removed his appendix which they confirmed had ruptured a few days prior. Unfortunately, he passed away from peritonitis shortly after this on Halloween. Some people believe his appendix might have ruptured with or without the blows from J. Gordon Whitehead, but many historians still believe that this is what caused Houdini’s ultimate demise. Houdini’s memory still lives on almost a century after his death. We’ll likely never see another magician who can amaze and bewitch a global audience in the same manner — he was surely one of a kind.

nor Your Relatives Passed It’s an ever-evolving holiday that traces its earliest roots to the Aztec people in what is now central Mexico. Skulls, like the ones placed on Aztec temples, continue to be a key symbol in this tradition for more than six centuries. During the Day of the Dead, there are even life-size papier-mâché skeletons that stand as a reminder that death is just a part of life, and it shouldn’t be something we should fear!

Halloween is just around the corner. You’ll soon have trick-or- treaters approaching your door requesting a healthy share of candy. Before then, you may want to go out and feel the thrills of the season yourself, but maybe you’re someone who doesn’t enjoy the cramped spaces of haunted houses. You don’t have to step indoors to experience a spooky attraction, though. There are plenty of outdoor Halloween attractions to check out, and here are three of the most thrilling. Zombie Paintball We’ve all watched a scary movie and thought we could do better than some of the characters in these extreme situations. Now is your chance to prove it. There are zombie paintball courses throughout the country, and they can be a great time for everyone involved. You’ll step aboard a bus or trailer outfitted with paintball guns and proceed along a course full of zombies and creatures. Before long, your friends and family will get into the competitive spirit to see who can hit the most targets. Haunted Corn Maze Haunted houses are great if you’re trying to experience some jump scares. But if you want to get the haunted house experience in an outdoor setting, you should check out a haunted corn maze. You’ll hear screams coming from all around to help amp up the fear. It’s also a great way to get some exercise! Haunted Hayride So, what if you want the best of both worlds? You may want to feel scared without walking through a maze or using a paintball gun. That’s where haunted hayrides come in. On a haunted hayride, you’ll hop aboard a platform that’s being towed by a tractor or truck as they take you through a dark forest and possibly some barns. Performers will be woven throughout to provide scares at the perfect moments. It’s a great way to get the classic Halloween experience without having to walk through a house or maze. The Pros and Cons of Painting Your Kitchen Cabinets

Want to Paint Your Kitchen Cabinets? Read This Crash Course First

by hiring a professional, but the price of the job will increase. • Your mistakes might haunt you. Maybe you’ll regret your color choice, maybe your paint job will be uneven, or maybe that primer spill just won’t come out of your grout. These are risks you’ll need to take if you choose to paint. Painting Tips and Tricks 1. Deep-clean before you paint. According to HGTV, it’s NOT a waste of effort to clean your cabinets before you sand them. In fact, it’s a vital step to remove grease that could ruin your paint job. 2. Label every panel and draw a cabinet map. Trust us — numbering all of your drawers and doors makes reassembly easy. If you don’t do this, you’ll end up crying on the kitchen floor in the middle of a cabinet puzzle. 3. Get scientific about your finishes. According to

Have you stepped into your kitchen in the last few weeks and thought it could use more color? If so, you’re not alone. Colorfully painted kitchen cabinets are a hot trend right now in home decor, to the point that HGTV released a step-by-step guide to the painting process this winter! However, just because you want to paint your kitchen cabinets doesn’t mean you should — at least not before reading the argument for each side and getting painting tips from the pros. 2 Reasons to Paint Your Cabinets — And 2 Reasons Not To The Pros: • You could increase your home’s value. Painted cabinets are hot, so buyers may be willing to pay a premium for them (unless they hate your color choice). Plus, light-colored cabinets may make your kitchen seem bigger. • If you hate your cabinets, you’ll save money. Painting cabinets yourself is time-consuming, but it’s much cheaper than springing for brand-new wood. The Cons: • It’s a pain in the butt. Painting your cabinets yourself means disassembling them, making your kitchen unusable for days, and doing hours of manual labor. You can avoid some of this hassle

Remodelista, you should “forget matte and eggshell finishes and opt for semi-gloss, gloss, or satin instead — hardy finishes that are easy to clean.”
