What has AMBA accreditation and membership of the AMBA network meant for your school since your accreditation was first announced? “AMBA accreditation has not only enhanced the recognition of DBS’s international stature, but also now serves as a crucial platform for actualising our mission and strategic objectives. “It signifies our dedication to top-tier teaching standards and outstanding faculty, as well as our adherence to the values of conscience education, ensuring each student at DBS receives an exceptional learning experience and professional skills. “The accreditation has also further empowered us to dedicate more resources to continuously improving our educational quality, aligning all our efforts with our mission of nurturing principled leaders and upholding ethical business practices based on human dignity.” How would you describe your business school’s unique selling point to other members of the AMBA network? “Within our unique environment of Kyoto – a global centre of mindfulness and centuries-old sustainable businesses – DBS’s courses and campus experiences offer students a blend of traditional wisdom and modern innovation in business education. “Our approach is built on a recognition that nurturing morally conscientious, technologically adept and socially aware business leaders demands a holistic approach to leadership development. It also helps the school fulfil its commitment to cultivating future leaders with global perspectives who can lead their organisations responsibly, while solving both business and social challenges effectively.”
22 per cent hailed from countries in Africa and a further 22 per cent from countries in Southeast Asia, with 13 per cent and six per cent coming from countries in North America and Europe, respectively. The English-language MBA is also a flagship programme for Doshisha University’s participation in the Global 30 Project, a funding initiative designed to promote internationalisation in Japanese higher education from the country’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. As of May 2023, the total number of students at Doshisha University was approximately 28,000, of which roughly 26,000 are studying at undergraduate level. There are a total of 772 full-time faculty members, supplemented by 1,500 part-time lecturers.
