NETWORK UPDATE

The school’s plan for 2023-2028 rests on four strategic directions: sustainable success as it seeks to mature into a large university; recognised quality as it builds its reputation; relevance and engagement as a driver of curricular innovation; and diversity and diversification to become a more rounded institution. Currently, its student body – both on-campus and online – is supported by 412 full-time and sessional faculty members, in addition to 349 staff, as of September 2023. In January, a team of its students competed against many of Canada’s leading business schools in a national MBA games competition and claimed first place overall across a weekend of academic, athletic and spirit challenges. The win followed victory at the end of last year in a similar contest held at the provincial level in British Columbia.

What led you to join the BGA network and what has membership meant for your school? “Joining BGA is aligned with our commitment to meet the evolving needs of the business world. It places UCW within a community of world-leading schools dedicated to responsible management practices. Membership and quality assurance processes, such as BGA accreditation, will aid our institution in maintaining the highest educational standards and ensure our graduates are not only equipped with the latest knowledge and skills but also recognised by employers worldwide. “Membership gives our students access to a global network of professionals and peers offering opportunities to engage with industry leaders, participate in international events and access mentorship from accomplished alumni.” How would you describe your school’s unique selling point to other members of the BGA network? “UCW’s mission is to provide a future-focused education, blending innovation, technology and entrepreneurship. In our fast-changing world, this approach ensures that students are not just prepared for the current job market but can also anticipate and adapt to tomorrow’s business landscape. “Winning the 2023 British Columbia MBA Games and this year’s national MBA Games underlines our quality and competitiveness. We have a state-of-the- art campus in Vancouver, a city with a vibrant cultural scene and high quality of life, making it an exceptional destination for students and professionals alike.”
