PAYROLL PETS

Modern life is incredibly busy and combining work and home life can be a balancing act. Pets can really help our mental wellbeing and help us find some solace and stability in difficult times.

Here are just a few of your wonderful furry and feathered friends...

Name: Digby Sent by: Amy Taylor, senior payroll and pensions officer, Kent Police “This is my beautiful four-year-old Labrador, Digby. He joined our family in November 2020, and then in January 2022, we entered what we call ‘the year of doom’ at work. It was the most stressful period my colleagues and I have known for a variety of reasons. “Having Digby there on my work at home days and in the evenings was great for my mental health, as we could always have a cuddle together. I’m so glad we came through the other side of that year.”

Name: Xena Sent by: Shona Mitchell, payroll manager, Innes and Partners Ltd “This is Xena, my 20-year-old Queen Bee. She’s never far from my side on a Friday when I work from home.”

Name: Deacon Sent by: Gemma Moules

MCIPP, payroll and pensions manager, The CME Personnel Consultancy Ltd “Some of us have non-furry pets. I have a feathered son called Deacon. He’s a Budgie, who has always got plenty to chat about and he keeps me sane during my busy days in payroll and pensions. “Deacon can get slightly distracted by shiny things and bells, but he can speak many words and is a great listener too.”

Name: Banna, Pumpkin, Bill and Ben Sent by: Jessica Ferris MCIPPdip, payroll, benefits and HRIS officer, ARRK Europe “Do fish count as payroll pets? They’re certainly mesmerising to watch! I have a goldfish tank which houses Banna and Pumpkin, and a tropical tank which is home to Bill and Ben, among others.”

If you’ve submitted your payroll pet to us and they’re not included, you’ll see them in a future issue of Professional .
