pends on God’s blessing, bu t work as if it all rested on your efforts. Take troub le in p reparation and prayer. • Be not afraid of rebuffs. Be not ashamed of a humble origin, know ing God can tak e th e greatest worker off th e dustheap; a t th e same tim e never use your work to raise you socially. Never be hu rried ; always have tim e to listen, to be still, to be courteous. In these small m atters th e health of th e sp irit is seen. Bear one ano th er’s burdens and re member in your work, if it be well balanced, th a t love and light, mercy and justice, God’s goodness and sever ity, go together. Be careful no t to cry down other workers because they do not follow your methods or Church. Remember th e word as to King Cyrus: “I have called thee by name, I have surnamed thee . . . I girded th ee; though thou h ast not known me.” (Isa. 45:4, 5 ). God has servants who do not even know Him, and whom you probably do not know either, besides many “who follow no t w ith u s :” therefore, speak evil of no man, and be very careful to refra in from adverse comment on any who are doing God’s work. F inally, I would pass on to you the Apostle’s wish for his beloved Thessa- lon ian s:'— “To which end we also pray always for you, th a t bur God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfil very desire of goodness, and every work of faith, w ith power th a t th e name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God, and the Lord Jesus Christ” • .(2 Thess. 1:11, 12 ).— A. T. Schofield, M. D. in “F it for W ork.”

IMK holds no prom ise of even a patched up peace. Ten years ago Liberalism was tim id and so far as it was expressed by

professed Christians, its ideas were carefully couched and kept the sem blance a t least of Scriptural sugges tion; bu t w ithin five years boldness has developed into brazenry and “no bones are made” of voicing any un belief; while tak ing issue w ith the Bible has become a popular pastime of certain University and Theological professors. R etaining th e ir respective denom inational labels as badges of honor, deftly creating “Boards of Con tro l” known to be sympathetically liberal or spiritually indifferent, filling the School treasu ry by forced drives out of which th e professor’s salary grows increasingly fat, they now de clare “an indepenence of all denom ina tional opinion,” and boldly assert they will “ teach w hat they please” w ithout let or hindrance from any quarter. So long as Germany retained the opinion th a t she was rig h t in th e world war, so long as th e resources she was filching from th e occupied fields of others were sufficient for th e suste nance of her army, so- long as her ag gressive w arfare was w inning additional ground and bringing added honors, no arm istice was given th e least considera tion; and as for peace, she regarded th a t as desirable only when her con quests were universally complete. A kindred arrogance possesses th e army
