Les Castors remportent deux victoires

Les Castors de Clarence ont ajouté deux victoires à leur "che, après avoir vaincu les Rebels de Char-Lan et les Canadians d’Ot- tawa. Un week-end lucratif pour l’équipe qui amaintenant une "che de trois victoires et de quatre défaites. Les Castors ont d’abord a"ronté les Rebels de Char-Lan, le 3 octobre dernier. Ils ont remporté la partie 4 à 3, avec un total de 23 tirs au but contre 30 pour les Rebels. Le match s’est conclu en temps supplémentaire, et c’est Pier-Olivier Fournier, aidé de Jordan Baptiste et Karl Larivière, qui a marqué le but gagnant. Billy Denham, Olivier Brunet et Karl Lari- vière ont inscrit les trois premiers buts au tableau, en première et deuxième période, avec les passes de Kevin Giroux, AdamBax- ter, Cullen Vanstrien et Pier-Olivier Fournier. Les Castors de Clarence étaient de retour à la maison, le dimanche 4 octobre, alors qu’ils ont disputé leur match contre les Canadians d’Ottawa. Ces derniers se sont inclinés 3 à 1 face à l’équipe locale. L’équipe d’Ottawa a e"ectué 36 lancers au but contre 33 pour Clarence. Dominik Henrie amarqué le premier but en avantage numérique, avec les passes de Dylan Nixon et Jordan Baptiste. Henrie a aussi marqué le deuxième but, avec l’aide de Zachary Fournier et Stéphane Routhier. Once someone has entered the squared circle, they never leave it forever. Ham- mond strongman Yves Drouin knows that for a fact as he steps back into the wrestling ring on his own home ground next month. “%is was a surprise tome,” said Drouin, laughing, during a phone interview over the Oct. 3 weekend. %e HammondHercules had thought he’d seen his last wrestling match as he focused more of his attention on competitive body- building.%en, during a workout session at his favourite gym, Drouin crossed paths with Hannibal of Great NorthWrestling (GNW), a promoter and wrestler in his own right who has wanted for a while to include Drouin on a card list of bouts. “He left me a message on Facebook, saying ‘hello’,” said Drouin, chuckling. “He said, ‘I knew you were big, but not so tall.’” %e end result is Drouin will reprise his wrestling persona as %e Steel Warrior one GREGG CHAMBERLAIN gregg.chamberlain@eap.on.ca
C’est Olivier Brunet qui a compté le der- nier, avec les passes de Kevin Giroux et Adam Baxter. L’unique but marqué par l’équipe adverse est survenu alors qu’elle était en avantage numérique. Lors de ce match, les Castors ont eu trois pénalités, pour un total de six minutes d’infériorité numérique sur la glace. Ils avaient aussi récolté deux pénalités au cours du match contre les Rebels de Char- Lan. À la suite de ce week-end, il faut dire que les Castors n’ont pas laissé la chance à leurs adversaires de reproduire le scénario de leurs deux derniers matchs, qui s’étaient soldés par deux défaites face aux BlueWings de Perth et aux Flyers de Prescott. Les Castors de Clarence disputeront leurs prochains matchs le 10 octobre, contre les Tikis de Brockville, à Brockville, et le 11 oc- tobre, à l’Aréna de Clarence Creek, contre les Rebels de Char-Lan. more time as half of a tag-team matching up with Billy “%e Rock Master” Lee as part of a GNWmulti-card sports entertainment list Nov. 27 at the Jean-Marc Lalonde Arena in Rockland. Amin’s favourite tech- nique involves a drop-slamagainst his oppo- nents cornered up against the turnbuckle. “Oh, crap!” said Drouin, still chuckling. “%ey say he weighs 500 pounds.” Whichmight be a bit of an exaggeration. Drouin himself stands just under six-foot though some of the past promotional notices during his short career on the pro wrestling circuit describe himas six-foot-three. Still, he concedes that Amin is a big wrestler and he will be careful when he steps into the ring. Amin’s tag-team partner may be another local name, Frank “%e Beast” Bradley of Rockland. %ey are all part of the card of pro wrest- lers that night alongside big-nameWWEHall of Famer Bushwhacker Luke, GNWwomen’s champion Malicia, and a host of others.

The Steel Warrior returns
Rockets clip Nats The North Dundas Rockets got a second-period boost to edge past the Rockland Nationals in the Oct. 4 game of the National Capital Junior Hockey League. The Nats were leading 3-1 after first period before the Rockets crept by 4-3 in the second, extending their lead by a single goal in during the third-period play to finish 8-7 against Rockland. Scoring two goals apiece for the Rockets were Kyle MacDonald and Ryan Romans, with Mackenzie Bacon, Brandon Mullin, Tristan Staff and Brady Tanner contributing solo goals. Punching in points for the Nats were Patrick Sevigny with two goals while his teammates Jeff Brett, Benoït Brunet, Matthew Clifford, Brayden Lane and Anthony Tulipano each contri- buted points.The Nats are in La Pêche for Thanksgiving Friday then return home Thanksgiving Sunday to host the Papineauville Vikings. – Gregg Chamberlain
