INTRODUCTION
Commercial and Events Manager Epsom College is one of the UK’s leading independent co-educational day and boarding school with approximately 880 pupils aged 11-18. The College is located one mile from Epsom town, below Epsom Downs, in fine buildings set in a beautiful tree filled campus of some 85 acres. Originally founded by The Royal Medical Benevolent Foundation in 1855, today the College strives to develop the individual talents of every girl and boy. The Commercial and Events Manager (CEM) has responsibility for the management, development, marketing and quality control of the commercial activities of Epsom College, including the fitness suite and pool facilities. Most, but not all, of these activities are conducted by Epsom College Enterprises Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the College and one of the school’s strategic intents is to increase its profits in this area. The CEM is responsible for developing and expanding this business, taking full responsibility for the management of these activities to ensure that they are effectively planned, delivered and evaluated, in accordance with agreed quality/customer care standards and cost/time resources. In addition, the College holds a considerable number of events each week during term time, aimed at both internal and external audiences. The CEM has responsibility for the overall planning and management for a significant number of these events at the school, liaising with the relevant members of staff, and ensuring that the College is able to deliver an efficient, effective, professional and high-quality service at all times. The CEM is responsible for managing the work of the Sports Centre Manager, AV and Performing Arts Manager and technicians.
