The goal isn’t perfect separation—which is neither possible nor de- sirable—but thoughtful integration that respects the distinct needs and expectations of different role contexts. Building Personal Role Integration Systems Creating coherence across multiple roles requires intentional prac- tices and systems. Consider the following framework for building your personal approach:

1. Conduct a Role Inventory

Start by explicitly identifying your various roles. Beyond the obvious categories of “professional” and “personal,” dig deeper:

• What specific roles do you play professionally? (Leader, expert, mentor, innovator, etc.) • What roles define your personal life? (Parent, partner, friend, caregiver, etc.) • What community roles matter to you? (Volunteer, activist, neigh- bor, etc.) • What identity roles shape your perspective? (Cultural back- ground, generation, value system, etc.)

For each role, identify:

• Core values associated with this role • Key relationships within this role • Primary contexts where this role is activated • Resources this role requires • How this role enriches your other roles
