The Evolution of Organizational Language When we published the first edition of this book, organizational lan- guage largely moved through predictable channels. Company memos traveled downward through hierarchies. Team discussions happened in meeting rooms with everyone physically present. Customer interactions occurred through carefully scripted touchpoints. The language of business respected clear boundaries between internal and external, formal and informal, work and personal.
