Purpose Integration Indicators

• Has purpose influenced structural aspects of your organization (metrics, rewards, processes)? • Are resources (time, budget, attention) allocated in ways that reflect stated purpose? • Do operational decisions demonstrably reflect purpose considerations?

Purpose Authenticity Verification

• How do stakeholders respond when you communicate your pur- pose? Do they recognize it as genuine? • Is there alignment between public statements and internal prac- tices regarding purpose? • Can you point to difficult decisions where purpose prevailed over short-term considerations? Organizations that have successfully addressed these considerations are well-positioned to move to Step 2. Those still struggling with purpose clarity, integration, or authenticity should focus on strengthening these foundations before attempting to develop aligned language systems. To implement this first step effectively, organizations should ask: • How does our purpose reflect the intersection of societal needs and our distinctive capabilities? • How does our purpose guide decision-making at all levels? • How do we measure and communicate our progress toward pur- pose fulfillment? • How does our purpose create coherence across increasingly dis- tributed teams? • How do we maintain purpose consistency while allowing for nec- essary evolution?
