UWSP School of Health Sciences & Wellness Scholarships 2021

SHANIA SCHALLOCK is an RN to BSN major, a licensed nurse who is finishing up her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is a dedicated wife and mother of four children. Shania has learned about her passion for helping others and teaching and hopes to attend graduate school for nursing to one day teach in higher education. Lenice Christine Merrill Eskritt Scholarship Lenice Christine Merrill Eskritt was a wife, mother and grandmother much beloved by her family. Her sensitivity and compassion to her fellow beings served as an example to all who knew her. She was very intelligent but was unable to continue her education beyond high school. She valued education and encouraged her six children to pursue post-secondary education in order to give themselves as many opportunities as possible. This scholarship is meant to honor her memory and her potential. It is her family’s desire that someone with similar circumstances to Lenice’s be financially assisted by this scholarship in order to develop their potential through education. STACY TAYLOR is a pre-nursing major who aspires work as woman’s health nurse practitioner. She has made the Dean’s List frequently throughout her collegiate career and holds a FEMA Certification since 2019. Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital Clinical Scholarship This scholarship was made possible by a generous donation from Ascension St. Michael’s Hospital.

NURSING

KATIE BABCOCK is a Registered Nurse within a neonatal intensive care unit who is finishing her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She was awarded the 2019 Dean’s Award – Outstanding Continuing RN to BSN Nursing award. Katie volunteers with the Children’s Miracle Network Radiothon at Marshfield Clinic Hospital. She also helps raise awareness for pregnancy and infant loss through the Children’s Hospital, Together Learning to Cope Remembrance Walk. Kelly Garr-Dawley Scholarship This scholarship is available to encourage non-traditional female students to continue their education by helping provide them with financial resources to pursue a college degree. Kelly Garr-Dawley was a non-traditional UWSP student who died in a tragic automobile accident. This award is in memory of Kelly. DAWN CAHILL is a Registered Nurse whose been working in health care for 14 years and is completing her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is a proud mother of two and is passionate about life-long education. Dawn was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Mary Jo Tepp Boyne Memorial Nursing Scholarship Mrs. Mary Jo Tepp Boyne was a life-long nurse that passed away in an automobile accident in 2011. Mary Jo’s husband created this scholarship in her memory with the hopes that the recipients will enjoy as fruitful and compassionate nursing career as Mary Jo.

This award is given to nursing majors who have demonstrated the strongest academic achievement amongst their program peers.
