Apply Induction Heat (If Necessary): If resistance is high, heat may be applied cautiously using an induction heater to assist with cap removal if necessary; however, extreme care must be taken as excessive heat can damage or remove the powder coat finish, especially on ESD and Cleanroom tools. Use heat only as a last resort and with proper temperature control. especially on ESD and Use an induction heater around the FG top cap for approximately 7–10 seconds to assist with removal. The top cap should come loose from the cam ring (top image). However, in some cases, the cam ring may loosen from the handle instead (bottom image). Either outcome is acceptable, and you may proceed with disassembly. Remove the tool from the vise. Note that the type of Loctite used during re assembly in steps 2.8-2.9 will vary depending on which component was separated.
