bubble, expanded lower level work out space, a newly revamped tennis shop, grannies & comfort stations, a new coffee shop, a sushi chef, sensational events, refreshed logos, enhanced technology at the golf range, enhanced security & surveillance, charitable efforts including employee scholarship & emergency funds. I am so proud of the entire team, The Board of Directors, Committees, and countless others that make our dreams become our new reality, every day. We never rest on our laurels, and we always expect to improve and learn each year. To that end, we have contracted with the preeminent research firm, The McMahon Group, to conduct a club wide member satisfaction & opinion survey. We look forward to learning your likes, dislikes, ideas, and opinions for the future. Look for this to be sent electronically sometime in February 2024. Our new social events calendar and new additional youth activity guide will be featured this month, and promises another fun filled late winter, spring & summer line up of interesting & unique social events, tournaments and other opportunities to make new memories. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any comments or ideas on how Richland can exceed your expectations. I can be reached at mmeyer@richlandcc.com

Dear Richland Family,

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday period, and I trust the new year will bring you lots of happiness, good health & continued successes.

As we prepare for our annual “reset” for a couple of days (1/1 to 1/4) to give many of our food service team a break, as well as focus on maintenance, deep cleaning, inventory, and planning for the new year ahead, I want to send out a huge thank you to the employees of Richland. Without every one of you, we would not be where we are today. Your passion, creativity, expertise, tirelessness, and true caring for doing an exemplary job every day, and happily assisting our membership, is nothing short of amazing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! We will be celebrating all of your efforts at our 3rd annual employee appreciation party on February 18th. I would be remiss to not send out congratulations to our two, very recent, new mommies. Jenny & Juan Huff (Baby Harlow) and Becky & David Steffens (Baby Brady). I was scrolling through some photos on my phone recently, putting a memory book together for my beloved yellow lab, Duke, that recently passed away. It hit me hard how much we have achieved over the last five plus years. Not only with wonderfully restored clubhouse and golf course renovations, but many smaller projects like, patio enhancements, new outdoor clocks, heaters on the patio, a tennis

Till next time,

President ’s Message

It is an exciting time to be a member at Richland Country Club. Your board is happy to report for the first time in many years, we are not involved in a major construction or capital type project. The Board would like to thank the membership for their patience as the club upgraded our facilities and amenities significantly. Richland is the #1 country club in Nashville, and these improvements have cemented Richland’s status as the best club in our city for decades to come. Martel and our club staff are thriving from top to bottom. They continue to deliver excellent service and commitment to our well-deserved members. Our tennis, fitness, and golf programs are flourishing with participation and excitement among our membership. Our club financials are stronger than ever which will help position us in the coming years. With the new year comes renewed focus and responsibility for your newly formed Board. We met in December to nominate and approve committee chairs and club officers. It is our privilege and honor to serve you. I ask that each member contributes time and efforts as you are able to help shape our club for the betterment of our membership. Without you, our club would not be at the level it is. My hope and prayer is that 2024 will be a safe and prosperous year for each of us. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Richland Members!

I hope you and your families had a blessed and happy holiday season. If you are like me, it was a fast-paced time of holiday parties, family gatherings, and end of the year work commitments.

I hope you found some time during the busy holiday season to enjoy your families, relax, and recharge your batteries for 2024. As we begin this new year at Richland, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and applaud our outgoing president, Andrew Fowler. During his 2-year tenure, Andrew’s leadership and vision helped our club navigate significant growth, opening of a new golf course, several capital projects including our on-course amenity structure Grannies, and countless positive initiatives that have raised the bar at our Club. On behalf of the membership and Board of Directors, we thank you, Andrew, for your hard work and dedication to Richland Country Club. I would also like to recognize Christy DiNapoli and Jason Reed as they have finished their 3-year term as Board members. You both have devoted countless hours of your personal time to lead Richland’s efforts. Your commitment and devotion have helped Richland become what it is today. When you see these two gentlemen around the club, please offer a word of thanks to each of them.

See you around the club, Justin Davis | Club President Justin Davis

DIRECTORS CUT I’ve been preparing for a major cut for the last 8 months! Since May, I have been diligent to consistently eat in a caloric surplus with the goal of gaining as much muscle and overall weight as possible while doing everything within my power to keep my body fat percentage low! Now it’s time for the extra weight to come off, attempt to maintain as much skeletal muscle as possible, and get that body fat percentage as low as I healthily can! As I dive deep into this cut, I am asking you to join me for the next 9 weeks (January 8th - March 11th) to see how much weight we can lose, body fat percentage we can drop, and how much skeletal muscle we can maintain or gain! Will you join me in the Director’s Cut? Go to the Richland fitness calendar and book your InBody Scan time with Javi, Nate, Angel or myself! We look forward to having you join this challenge with us!

JUMPSTART 2024 With less than 10% actually achieving their new year’s resolution and more than 25% failing within the first week, the statistics are stacked against us.

3) Stay Accountable According to the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD), you have a 65% chance of completing a goal if you commit to someone. This increases to 95% if you set a specific appointment with the person you’ve committed to. This shows just how important accountability can be in achieving your resolutions. Personal trainers make ideal accountability partners. Not only are they specialists in health and fitness, but they won’t be afraid to call you out when you’re not delivering on your goals. Make an appointment today with one of our certified personal trainers and make your goals reality! Group classes can also be a great way to improve accountability. We often push ourselves harder when other people are around, since we hold ourselves accountable to the standards of the group. Check out our group fitness calendar and find the right class for you!

Here are a few tips to beat the odds and find success in 2024:

1) Find Something You Enjoy Whether it’s pounding on a treadmill or forcing yourself to eat a bowl of lettuce, if it’s not enjoyable to you, then it’s not a realistic long-term change. Don’t endure it; enjoy it! 2) Have a Plan Instead of choosing a lofty end goal, break it down into practical steps. Figure out what small steps will help you get to the bigger picture.
