T he speaker paused, then con tinued, “My life was confused and without purpose. Nothing made sense. Then one day I found a Person who completely changed my life; He is Jesus Christ. He is tremendous!” The man hesitated. There seemed to be no adequate way to express the true meaning of this great experi ence. Then he went on, “It complete ly changed my way of life and also my home and my family.” Here was one man who had search ed for something that would satisfy. He tried the social whirl, including cocktail parties and loose living, but it brought only increasing emptiness and frustration. He had a haunting feeling that he was missing the big gest thing in life. He wasn’t sure what it was. One day a friend told him about his own experience: The confident way in which he told it gave the cue. He responded to his friend’s suggestion to try the same way. The result was miraculous. It worked. It was invaluable to him, and so it was difficult to tell others how much it meant. The great crowd of people on the lakeshore was listening with rapt in terest. They were hearing something startlingly different. Jesus was telling the multitude about the Kingdom of God. He told them' what it could mean to them personally. This is what they were waiting for. “What will this mean to me?” Jesus said, “It is like a treasure hid in a field; the which when a man has found it he hides and for joy goes and sells all that he owns and buys the field;” “It is like a merchant who was seeking for goodly pearls. When he found one, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.” Jesus was telling about something that was more valuable than all their possessions, and it was within their reach. Have you the same warmth and sincerity when you tell someone about the incalculable value of know ing Christ? If so, others will desire it and they will sell all to secure it Be sure that you speak of Him as a Person precious to you . . . the Lord Jesus Christ. Others will want Him if He is that precious to you.
