Undermount installation

Surface-mounted installation is the conventional type of installation. The sink is inserted from above into a hole cut out of the worktop, which is easy to do and enables the flat edge of the sink to really come into its own. This installation types is suitable for wooden or laminate workt- ops.

Only stainless-steel sinks can be flush-mounted. This installation type makes the sink and workt- op look like they are one, as the sink is inserted flush with the worktop. The worktop cut-out needs to be absolutely exact to create a smooth transition for that all-important extra worktop space. This also makes cleaning easier, as there are no obstructive edges on the sink rim. This installation type is perfect for worktops made of one solid material, such as natural stone, glass, quartz or ceramics.

Undermount installation integrates the sink into the worktop. As the name suggests, the sink is mounted to the worktop from underneath. An opening the size of the sink is cut out of the worktop, and the sink is glued or screwed into place. This installation type is only suitable for water-resistant worktops made of natural stone, concrete or quartz. With undermount installati- on, the kitchen taps need to be installed in the worktop or the wall above it.
