Immediately he experienced the darkness and had to have some one lead him around by the hand. The way in which the Lord brought this to pass caused others who saw and heard these events to believe in Cod. This individual was a servant of Satan himself. The devil uses such men to resist the Gospel, turning others away from the truth. Do not underestimate the power of sor cery and witchcraft. We can be thankful that the Holy Spirit's pow er enables us to overcome such things in our spiritual welfare. Barnabas and Paul were chosen by the Holy Spirit (Acts 13:2) to

This He does every day. In Acts 2:14-40 we read the ser mon that Peter preached on the day of Pentecost. What a tremen dous, God-given message that tru ly was. Various members of the church were enabled by the Holy Spirit to preach in the native tongues of every nationality repre sented (Acts 2:4ff). Surely they preached about Jesus Christ Him self. Peter's sermon was the first example of mass evangelism. He had obeyed the most elementary laws of fishing: "Where you find the fish, that is the place to put down the hook or to lower the net." It was John Wesley who declared, "As a believer in Christ, you have only one real business. You should win people to Christ!" David Brain- erd emphasized in his diary, "I cared not how I lived, nor what hardships I went through, if I only might win one soul to Christ Jesus." This is the secret of true purpose and intent that will reap an eternal harvest. Peter was won himself. Ev er after he sought to win others. Are we doing the same thing with fervent zeal? THE DEVIL’S DISCIPLE Men and women through life have either accomplished good things for God or that which is evil. Some seem totally dedicated to further the goals of Satan. We ought to profit from the lives of these people as we study about them. In Acts 13:6-12 we read about Elymas, the sorcerer. Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, speaking stern ly, commanded him to cease from perverting the right ways of the Lord. The condemnation was that he would be blind for a season.
