we are the children of Cod." He was right! Anyone who is a believ er, living for Christ, stands as a barrier against evil. The account of this evil man is recorded for us in Acts 13:6-12. Such people as Elymas do not real ize that one of these days they will have to stand in the presence of Cod where they must give an an swer to Him for the way they have lived. They have no choice in the matter, there will be no excuse, and absolutely no acquittal. Fight ing the things of Cod, Elymas tried to keep the Gospel from being preached. He was nothing more than a disciple of the devil. Paul and Barnabas, the servants of the Lord, desired Sergius Paulus, the Roman procounsel, to be saved. There was a real spiritual struggle that proceeded. The seventh verse shows that the official wanted to hear the Word. Previously he had been influenced greatly by this sor cerer who indulged in witchcraft. You see, the devil was trying to snatch the seed of the Word of Cod as it would fall on the heart of one who needed to be set free. So the conflict between the power of God and the powers of darkness would rage. I can never read this story from Acts without realizing that Satan has tremendous power. But, thank God, the Lord has greater for He is omnipotent. Jesus defeated the enemy at the cross when He died on Calvary for our sins. Praise God, you and I serve a risen, vic- torius Master.
