Mary Magdalene was one of the few who stayed at the cross while Jesus Christ was crucified (Matthew 27'56; Mark 15:40). She carefully watched everything that took place with intense sorrow and earnest devotion of dedication. The wo men -were the last to leave the tomb after the burial of Christ. They were also the first at the tomb when God rolled the stone away at the resurrection. They had come not seeking a risen Christ, but rath er to finish embalming His body.
When his new master claimed him, he received the good news, "I have bought you at a very great price in order to set you free!" With the chains being removed the freed man was overcome with emo tion and avowed, 'Master, I will be your willing slave forever." This is somewhat the reaction of this woman who had been so grateful for her release. I wonder just how thankful we are for the deliverance we have received from bondage to sin. We should be able to comply with Paul's desire for the believers at Corinth, "That they which live should not henceforth live unto
