It all started in 1972 when a respected Egyptian family business created a tourism portal … that is when Sakkara Tours was born to be the cornerstone of Sakkara Group International (SGI). History
On The Rise
The company started to experience an immense upsurge in travelers from France, prompting SGI to further expand its scope. As the next step in SGI’s development, the company created a transportation department and increased its staff to handle the extensive new business generated by its French partners.
Subsequently, SGI expanded its portfolio with hotel developments. In 1981, the group launched its first urban hotel, Sonesta Cairo, managed at the time by Hyatt Hotels. On the international level, Sakkara Tours diversified its market reach to include several countries, including France, Belgium, Japan, China, USA, UK, India and Russia.
Spreading Out
In 1989, SGI launched its first Nile cruiser, Nile Goddess, followed by Nile Dream and Lady Diana in 1992. STI Travel USA was launched in 2004 followed by STI UK, STI India in 2007, Central Holidays in 2012 and Mosaic Holidays, its most recent acquisition in 2014.
