SMART GRID DEMONSTRATION PROJECT (SGDP) SINGAPORE GOVMEDIA 24 JULY Singapore
Datuk Dr Mohd Yusoff Sulaiman, the President and CEO of MIGHT, received the GovMedia Award in Singapore for MIGHT’s achievement in winning the National Science and Technology Initiative of the Year for Malaysia category. The recognition was for MIGHT’s project, the ‘GEF6 Integrated Approach Pilot of Sustainable City Development in Malaysia’, highlighting the utilisation of technology for resilience from GEF6 to the Smart Melaka Blueprint 2035. The GovMedia Awards recognised the outstanding government projects in the region. The award was given to MIGHT for advocating an integrated approach to urban planning and management that considers economic, social, and environmental resources. From Malaysia’s perspective, the project has successfully enhanced the country’s readiness, coordination, and collaboration to tackle two significant challenges facing modern cities - urbanisation and climate change. The project has successfully implemented the Game Changers and Strategic Thrusts outlined in the 11th Malaysia Plan (RMK11), particularly in Green Growth, innovation, and industrial development in green technology. It has also played a role in improving competitive city infrastructure.
