COURTESY VISIT TO UNITEN – NATIONAL ENERGY CENTER (NEC) 27 JULY SELANGOR
Datuk Dr Mohd Yusoff Sulaiman, President and CEO of MIGHT, led a visit to Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN). The visit was hosted by Prof Ir Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman, Vice Chancellor of UNITEN, and his team. The purpose of the visit was to support the National Energy Policy 2022-2040 (DTN) and the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (2021-2025) goals of achieving Net Zero GHG emissions by 2050. UNITEN, through its National Energy Centre (NEC), collaborates with MIGHT to provide technological solutions for Malaysia’s energy transition. The visit highlights UNITEN’s Research Focus area and its efforts in internationalisation and industrialisation through consortiums and connections at governmental and ministerial levels. The focus is on UNITEN’s top- notch capabilities in driving energy transition through its five research
institutes, including a nuclear institute. The visit also involved exploring research labs like Satellite Technology for Climate Change, Hydropower Dam Reservoir & Emergency Action Plan, Geospatial Technology for flood & soil erosion risk, Virtual Reality for Gas Turbine, and Geo-Hazard Damage. MIGHT and UNITEN will further explore collaborations and opportunities to lead and benefit from international networking, industrial linkages, and partnerships in education and research with countries such as the USA, UK, Japan, Spain, Türkiye, Finland, South Korea, ASEAN countries, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
