SMART AND SUSTAINABILITY CITIES ENGINEERING SYMPOSIUM (SSCESS 2023) 9 SEPTEMBER Kuala Lumpur
Ts Dr Raslan Ahmad, FASc was invited by the Board of Engineering Malaysia (BEM) to present on the Smart Partnership for Building Resilience and Shaping Smart and Sustainable Cities at the Smart & Sustainability Cities Engineering Symposium (SSCESS 2023). The presentation emphasised the difficulties in creating resilient, smart, and sustainable cities. Dr Raslan recommended that city progress be guided by establishing new connections and agreements, proposing the establishment of the Malaysia Smart Cities Alliance Association (MSCA) as a collaborative platform to promote Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in advancing smart and sustainable goals. Other speakers at the event included Dr Xiaohua Chen from Veolia Water (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Mr Derek Foong, Head of Technology and Sustainable Applications Development at DANFOSS. The Opening Remarks were delivered by the Guest of Honour, TPr Md Nazri Abdullah, Deputy Director-General of PLANMalaysia, followed by a Keynote Address by Ir Habibie Razak, the Country Director of Surbana Jurong Group SMEC Indonesia. The symposium focused on urban development challenges, issues, and upcoming trends in smart and sustainable cities. The discussions primarily centred around incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and zoning technologies into the Smart City framework to deliver socio- economic and environmental benefits to all inhabitants.
