SHARING ECONOMY PUBLIC SURVEY FEBRUARY-MARCH Across entire state of Malaysia

As a crucial input to the quantitative analysis for the Study, the project team successfully executed a public survey campaign by implementing a comprehensive plan. This involved reaching the public through survey enumerators on the ground and an online campaign via social media, aiming to assess readiness and industry challenges within the sharing economy ecosystem, including platform operators, service providers, and gig workers. The study team collected responses from 4,168 participants, comprising 2,400 public users, 1,067 public non-users, 655 service providers/gig workers, and 46 platform operators. Survey enumerators underwent rigorous training to ensure a standardised approach, emphasising neutrality and professionalism in data collection. Geographic distribution aligned with population density and industry presence, while ongoing quality control measures and data security protocols safeguarded the integrity of collected information. The communication strategy involved diverse channels to inform the public about the survey’s purpose, encouraging widespread participation. The survey’s success lies not only in achieving the target respondent number but also in meticulous planning and execution, setting the stage for a thorough analysis and strategic actions based on the survey findings to address identified gaps and challenges in the industry.
