EU-INDO PACIFIC REGIONAL ENERGY CONFERENCE: SCALING UP A GLOBAL HYDROGEN ECONOMY 23 FEBRUARY Kuala Lumpur
The European External Action Service and the Directorate-General for Energy Policy, European Commission, extended an invitation to MIGHT and other government and industry stakeholders from the EU and the Indo-Pacific region. The event, titled “Scaling up a Global Hydrogen Economy,” was part of the EU-Indo Pacific Regional Energy Conference. MIGHT, participated in the conference, which brought together officials and business representatives from various countries, including Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, The Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. The primary goal of the conference was to provide a platform for stakeholders to explore cooperation in supporting the regional and global green energy transition, particularly in the context of a global rules-based hydrogen market. The Minister of Natural Resources, Environment & Climate Change, Malaysia, YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, delivered remarks emphasising Malaysia’s commitment to addressing climate change through key government and industry initiatives. The conference also featured presentations on national and regional hydrogen strategies, projected consumption, and export capacities, highlighting the crucial role of hydrogen in the energy transition and decarbonisation of industrial processes and economic sectors.
