STUDY ON REGULATORY FRAMEWORK AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE SHARING ECONOMY OCTOBER-NOVEMBER Cyberjaya
The Ministry of Economy appointed MIGHT as a consultant to conduct the “Study on Regulatory Framework and Development of the Sharing Economy” in September 2022. The project kicked off on the 3 rd October, 2022, and the study was successfully delivered and completed on the 30 th of November, 2023. The main objectives of the study were to: A) To establish a regulatory framework and development for the sharing and gig economy B) To evaluate the level of readiness in terms of participation rate, roles for providers, consumers, platforms, regulators, and third parties to adopt the sharing and gig economy, as well as perform statistical analysis C) To recommend policies, acts and regulations, including short, medium and long-term action plans that will encourage the growth of these economies, in addition, indicators and measurement methods In implementing the study, MIGHT has conducted extensive engagements with key ecosystem stakeholders, such as the platform operators, service providers, gig workers, related government agencies, and many others, in developing a comprehensive study for the Ministry of Economy.
