GEF6 SCOPING SESSION 7-10 MARCH Cyberjaya & Melaka
The completion of the 6 th cycle of the Global Environment Facility (GEF-6) programme on Sustainable City Development by MIGHT involved a series of sessions aimed at assessing project impact and gathering feedback for future initiatives. MIGHT facilitate a scoping session led by GEF representative Mr Neeraj Kumar Negi from the Independent Evaluation Office (IOE), held from March 7 th to 10 th . This session included ministry agencies and stakeholders involved in the implementation of the project, with key participants such as the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, the Local Government Department, and Urbanice Malaysia. The online session provided an overview of project achievements and collected initial feedback from a federal-level perspective. Subsequently, a physical session took place in Melaka to engage with local stakeholders, including the Economic Planning Unit of Melaka State, Melaka Green Technology Corporation, Melaka ICT Holdings Sdn Bhd, and all local authorities in Melaka. This session also included a site visit to showcase the smart grid initiatives, such as the 30kW PV Solar Rooftop installation and Energy Monitoring System (EMS) at the Melaka Historic City Council Headquarters office, providing a practical demonstration of the project’s outcomes. The third session involved MIGHT, the Smart Grid Project Delivery Partner from TNB Research Sdn Bhd, and the Energy Commission, focusing on the technical aspects of the project and gathering insights from key stakeholders. The scoping session demonstrated MIGHT’s commitment to providing valuable input and feedback to improve future projects. This collaborative effort aims to leverage lessons learned from the GEF6 programme to enhance sustainability initiatives in the future, contributing to more effective and impactful projects in sustainable city development.
