La vraie spécialité de Callas, ce sont d’abord les oliviers. Avec 23 usines en activité au 19ème siècle, la récolte des olives estdevenue uncommerce important. Elle alimente l’usine de Draguignan, et l’usine d’huile locale ne suffit pas. En 1892, il y avait 56 000 oliviers à Callas. Aujourd’hui, le Moulin Bérenguier est l’un des plus importants de la région.

Après modernisation, elle s’est procuré des olives auprès d’environ 500 producteurs et a remporté plusieurs médailles pour la qualité de son huile. Le charme opérera dès votre arrivée, vous trouverez des rues étroites, des arcades, des passages voûtés et admirerez des portes anciennes, des fontaines et d’autres éléments typiques de Callas tels que le clocher de la mairie (1828) et l’église Notre-Dame. Arrêtez- vous à la cascade et vous constaterez la formation particulière de ce village, accroché à la colline et constitué de hautes maisons impressionnantes avec leurs greniers « sèche-figues ».

Located between the stunning Gorges du Verdon Valley and the Mediterranean coast, the historic village of Callas, a jewel in the Riviera countryside, benefits from a magnificent and contrasting natural environment. The real renown of Callas is derived, above all, from the olive groves. With 23 factories in operation in the 19th century, olive harvesting had become an important business. In 1892 there were 56,000 olive trees in Callas. Today, the Moulin Bérenguier is one of the most important in the region. After modernization, it procured olives from around 500 producers and won several medals for the quality of its oil. The charmwill have its effect from the moment you arrive. Be lured into the narrow streets, and discover arcades, vaulted passages, ancient doorways, fountains and other elements typical of Callas such as the bell tower of the town hall (1828) and the Church of Our -Lady. Stop at the waterfall and admire the particular structure of the village, clinging to the hillside and made up of impressive tall houses whose attics were used historically to dry figs.
