KRE projects under construction or in the design phase include 18 Park, a 422-unit rental building in downtown Jersey City that will also include a new state- of-the-art facility for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hudson County; Journal Squared, a 1,840-unit project in the Journal Square section of Jersey City; Hudson Lights, a 1,000,000 million square-foot mixed-use project in Fort Lee; Madison Farms, an 832-unit development in Bethlehem, PA which also has 132,000 s/f of retail space; and a 100,000 s/f development in lower Manhattan. n

New Jersey honored Constan- tino “Gus”Milano , managing director of Hartz Mountain Industries , for his commit- ment to Newark’s young people at its Building Bridges, Creat- ing Opportunities: ANew Play for Newark annual benefit din- ner at the Robert Treat Hotel. The event raised $700,000 forAll Stars’ free, performance- based youth development pro- grams thanks to the leadership of Milano and Hartz Mountain Industries, one of the largest private owners of commercial real estate in the country. Hosted by Darla Miles, WABC-TV reporter, the eve- ning’s festivities were attended by 350 business and philan- thropic leaders. The program included a hip-hop dance performance by All Stars youth and the presentation of Community Spirit Awards to Vinnie Brown (Naughty by Nature), Carlos Lejnieks (Big Brothers Big Sisters), Chandri Barat (The Barat Foundation), John Sch- reiber (NJPAC) and Earl “The Street Doctor” Best. “Gus knows that to continue to grow the city of Newark, we must grow its young people,” said All Stars Project of NJ Director Gloria Strickland. “He understands the challenges Newark faces and is commit- ted to investing in new ways of helping our communities develop. We are proud that Gus has chosen to work with theAll Stars as a key partner in this effort, and we are touched by his outstanding support for Newark’s young people.”

Kushner, who oversees KRE Group’s operating and multi- family portfolios, will join fellow leaders of the Garden State’s commercial real estate industry in discussing the state of the NJ multifamily market. Topics will include current real estate trends, the economy’s impact on the industry and job growth in the marketplace. The panelists will also touch on cap markets, investment activity, and the effects new requirements in sustainability and innovation have on devel- opment.

“My grandparents grew up in Newark, and I spent part of my summers there as a child. I have also spent a great deal of my professional time in Newark throughout my ca- reer, so this city means a lot to me,” said Milano. “The All Stars is changing the fabric of the entire city by reaching out to young people in the community, exposing them to business opportunities and helping them see the world as filled with new possibilities. I’m proud to be lending a hand in that effort.” Milano, who has been with Hartz Mountain for 32 years recently joined the All Stars Project of New Jersey Board. In the summer of 2012, Hartz Mountain Industries spon- sored full-time paid summer internships at the firm’s head- quarters in Secaucus for two Entrepreneurship. Part of MSU’s School of Business, the Center was created to enhance entrepreneurship by creat- ing an environment where students unleash their talent for creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial drive. The seminar brought to- gether college students, MSU staff and alumni, and CREW NJ members to share the per- sonal journeys of six CREW NJ members whose careers reflect the diversity of roles in the commercial real estate industry. EDA takes action to launch NJ Economic Opportunity Act of 2013

TRENTON, NJ — The Board of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) took ac- tion today to authorize the Authority to begin accepting applications for incentive pro- grams provided under the New Jersey Economic Opportunity Act, signed into law by Gover- nor Christie on September 18, 2013. As a result, applications

for the Economic Redevelop- ment and Growth (ERG) and the GrowNJAssistance (Grow NJ) programs will be avail- able from the EDA beginning November 18. In other actions, the Board approved support for sig- nificant business expansion and urban renewal projects, including redevelopment and education initiatives. n
