Brexit has already complicated trade with Europe, and Trump’s history of engaging in trade wars could further hinder British exporters’ prospects across the Atlantic. “The UK is stuck between a rock and a hard place,” notes Abhishek. Yet, he remains optimistic about Britain’s ability to adapt. “The UK has a history of enterprise and adaptability. Businesses should lean into their strengths in sectors such as services - recruitment, legal, tax consultancy - as well as creative industries, biotech, and education.” At the same time, he emphasises addressing weaknesses in energy, farming, and manufacturing through strategic investment and support.
