The Site Remediation Reform Act, which was signed into law in May 2009, created the profession of Licensed Site Re- mediation Professionals, who now guide most responsible parties through the timelines and regulations of the New Jersey Department of Envi- ronmental Protection for site remediation. More than seven hundred women and men are now LSRPs in New Jersey. 

Once the New Jersey Fairgrounds, the Grounds for Sculpture reclaimed the unused land in the 1980s, much as LSRPs have reclaimed contaminated sites for redevelopment for a decade. Caryn Barnes of Langan, the current LSRPA president, raised a toast to the LSRPs, including the eight people who have served as LSRPA president, to acknowledge a job well done and a strong future for site remediation in New Jersey. Since the cre- ation of LSRPs, more than 14,000 cases, including many SMILE recognizes Atkins Companies recognized by Hopatcong Residents WEST ORANGE, NJ — Atkins Companies was pre- sented with a framed letter of appreciation for constructing a new 4,700 s/f independent living facility located in Ho- patcong for residents of SMILE (Steven Milford Independent Living Experience) of Hopat- cong. SMILE is a nonprofit dedicated to establishing safe and uniquely designed homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabili- ties. The home was completed in September of 2018 and can accommodate five adults with developmental disabilities, marking the first completed independent living facility for SMILE of Hopatcong.
