Dr. Charles C. Ryrie has been ap­ pointed Professor of Systematic The­ ology, Chairman of the Department and Dean of the Graduate School, ac­ cording to Dr. John F. Walvoord, presi­ dent of Dallas Theological Seminary and Graduate School of Theology. Dr. Ryrie has served as President of the Philadelphia College of the Bible since 1958. Dr. Alan Redpath, pastor of the his­ toric Moody Church in Chicago, has resigned to accept a call to the Char­ lotte Chapel in Edinburgh, Scotland. He will leave in October to take the pulpit which has previously been filled by Dr. W. Graham Scroggie and Dr. J. Sidlow Baxter. Rev. Harold B. Street, Executive Sec­ retary of Evangelical Literature Over­ seas, has announced the establish­ ment of a cooperative “ Big Brother” program in connection with the Chris­ tian Booksellers Association. Dr. John E. Brown, Jr., president of J o h n Brown University, Siloam Springs, Ark., has announced the ac­ ceptance of the University into the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, the highest ac­ crediting association in the Central United States. Dr. Bob Pierce, president of World Vision, and Dr. Paul S. Rees, vice-presi­ dent at large, were among the speak­ ers at two Asian Pastors Conferences held recently in Indonesia and Bur­ ma. Approximately 2,000 national pastors and church workers from re­ mote parishes assembled for the con­ ferences. Dr. Carl F. H. Henry, Editor of Chris­ tianity Today, was the speaker at the Easter Sunrise Service held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Dr. Henry’s topic was “ The Good News of Easter,” in which he said, “ Easter Sunday proclaims in a special way the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. After 2,000 years His resur­ rection is still history’s best news.” Dr. Oswald J. Smith of The Peoples Church, Toronto, Canada, has been invited to hold meetings in Iceland. His campaign will commence on June 10. He will be one of the first evan­ gelists ever to go from North America to Iceland. Dr. Ben Pearson, well-known mis­ sionary statesman and author of sev­ eral missionary biographies, has added another biography to his list. The V i s i o n Lives portrays the beautiful character of the late Mrs. Charles E. Cowman, former president of the Oriental Missionary Society and Founder-president of World Gospel Crusades. Mrs. Cowman is best known by her famous devotional book Streams In The Desert. Mr. Kenneth Taylor, director of Moody Literature Mission, is on a four-month tour of western Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Russian satellite states. The purpose of the trip is to offer MLM ’s help in establishing Christian publishing houses and book­ stores in these areas.

Jaeck, chairman of the Department of Sociology and Anthro­ pology at Wheaton College, spoke at a one-day conference on social work which was held at Wheaton College. The purpose of the conference was to challenge the Christian student with the opportunities of the emerg­ ing profession of social work.
