On Day Two’s Match Play, ANCC faced top-seeded 1757 Legends. The team came out strong to take an early lead after the first Flag (first 3 holes) catching 1757 by surprise. Strong drives, solid iron play, and clutch putting kept ANCC competitive with the two teams tied through six holes. However, the 1757 golfers found their groove on the last three holes and let loose a barrage of birdies to take down ANCC before ultimately going on to win the Regional Championship. Afterwards, Jimmy praised the All-Stars for their amazing performance, attributing it to all the practicing they put in over the summer. While the loss stung, ANCC finished the season one of the fourth best teams in the entire region—an accomplishment that all club members should be proud of whether golfers or not. Since veterans Sydney, Ben, Chase, Max, and Philip have all reached the maximum 13-year-old age limit, the All-Star team will need up and coming talented junior golfers to join returning veteran players Wisniewski, Totte, Dinh, Mitchell Moore, Jake Collins, Nate Miller, and Dillon Parekh next summer when ANCC will look to continue its success. Author’s Note: The All-Star Team parents would like to thank Jimmy and the rest of the professional golf staff for an amazing season and are appreciative of the Golf and Greens Committee’s continued support of the junior golf program.

ANCC All-Stars Make Historic Run at PGA JR Regional Championship The 13U ANCC All-Star Team turned in a historic perfor- mance at the PGA JR Regional Championship, advancing to the semi-finals for the first time in ANCC history. The team was one of eight clubs battling it out at Williamsburg’s Kingsmill Resort over Labor Day Weekend for a spot in the National Championship. The two-day tournament featured teams from the Mid-Atlantic region as well as Delaware and New Jersey. Day One kicked off with ANCC taking on Fiddler’s Elbow (Bedminster, NJ) in an 18-Hole Qualifier to determine which team would advance to semi-finals match play the following day. Sydney Dinh and Ben Van Fossen were first off the tee followed by Philip Verghese and Charlie Wisniewski then Max Gaston and Chase Evans. Ryan Totte and Mason Dinh were the final pair to tee off for ANCC. Coach Jimmy Kowalski’s golfers came out firing at the pins and showed they were a force to be reckoned with as they lit up the Plantation Course in a true team effort. Their team total of 17 under par—a 28 shot improvement over last year—was just enough to edge out old nemesis Michelle Holmes Golf School (Chesapeake, VA) by one shot to secure the final spot in the Semi-Finals. Notably, ANCC was the only one of the four remaining teams that does not recruit outside its own club’s talent pool, a testament to the strong program Jimmy and his staff have built.
