Renovating or remodelling a kitchen is all about putting more life into it, transforming the décor, and designing new storage space. It is also a good investment that could increase the value of your home and facilitate its resale. In the past, kitchens were often neglected when home owners were deciding on their priorities. These days, however, we want to be proud of our kitchens and show them off. That means kitchens should be as welcoming and func- tional as possible. These days, designer kitchens with clean and simple lines are emphasized with the use of aluminum, wood, and stainless steel. Work areas are expansive and lit precisely and generously, with numerous electrical outlets at the ready for all types of appliances. Opening up the kitchen, so as to integrate it into the dining room or living room, continues to be the main remodelling trend. Note that doing so requires the installation of a more powerful and quieter kitchen fan. Islands have also gained in popularity over the last few years. Whether
mobile or fixed, they add elegance and function- ality to any kitchen. Sinks are now available in a wide range of materials: ceramic, stainless steel, synthetic resins (including high-performance granite finishes that are waterproof and wear-re-
sistant), or, if you can afford it, marble or fibre cement sinks that are indestructible and totally unique. Because a total kitchen renovation or remodel is a very ambitious project, it is possible to only
change some elements, such as the cabinets, back splash, and worktops. Alternately, new life can be brought to an old kitchen with a few ac- cessories updates, such as sink hardware, cur- tains, appliances, or kitchen table and chairs.

Puis, retirez toutes les vis situées sous le comptoir. Ensuite, enlevez l’évier à l’aide d’une spatule mince en métal ou d’un pied-de-biche. À cette étape, vous pouvez retirer l’ancien comptoir en toute sécurité. Par ailleurs, renseignez-vous auprès de votre municipalité pour connaître la manière appropriée de vous débarrasser de votre ancien comptoir. Psitt! N’oubliez surtout pas de fermer l’alimentation en eau de votre cuisine avant de toucher à la tuyauterie!
Posez le nouveau Pour procéder à l’installation de votre nou- veau comptoir (conçu sur mesure, de pré- férence!), demandez l’aide d’une personne habile de ses mains et munissez-vous d’un ni- veau, de téflon, de vis et d’un tournevis. Atten- tion : les vis utilisées ne doivent pas être trop longues, car elles pourraient créer des pics disgracieux à la surface… Avec votre assis- tant, posez le nouveau comptoir et ajustez-le pour qu’il soit de niveau et parfaitement aligné. Enfin, pour garantir son étanchéité, appliquez une couche de téflon sur sa bordure, à la jonc- tion du mur. Et voilà le travail!
Avec quelques outils et un peu d’aide, il est assez facile d’installer un nouveau comptoir.
