&/#3&'r#3*&'4 LEARN MORE ABOUT CANNABIS The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) is inviting members of the community to attend a forum about the federal government’s new Cannabis Act, which comes into effect October 17. The forum consists of a presentation by the regional health unit along with a community partner panel, as well as a general question and answer period for all those attending the session. Topics of the schedule for discussion will include general cannabis information, effects on physical and mental health, regional statistics on cannabis use, legalization information as well as recommenda- tions on how to discuss the matter with children. Future English sessions will be held on October 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rockland District High School and on October 11 at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, in Russell. — Francis Racine

L’artiste puise son inspiration de ses « craintes pour l’avenir de la planète et le faire semblant, la parole facile vis-à-vis les droits de la femme; on en parle beaucoup, mais on n’applique pas beaucoup », a-t-elle partagé. Mme Lenoir Godin a choisi de faire de cette exposition une collecte de fonds pour la Maison des Arts. Ainsi, Mme Lenoir Godin remettra la moitié des profits des toiles vendues qui comportent un astérisque à l’organisme. Ceux qui sont intéressés à voir l’exposition peuvent se rendre à la Maison des Arts pendant ses heures d’ouverture.

Les toiles de l’artiste-peintre Christine Lenoir Godin, de Bourget, sont présen- tement en exposition à la Maison des Arts d’Embrun jusqu’au 30 septembre prochain. Mme Lenoir Godin est artiste depuis son tout jeune âge. Elle crée avec de l’encre, du graphite, de l’aquarelle, du pastel, des médiums mixtes et de l’acrylique. Elle fait aussi de la sculpture avec de la glaise et avec des objets trouvés. C’est sa mère qui l’a initiée au monde artistique. « Mon premier professeur, dans ma vie, a été ma mère, qui était assez bonne en arts visuels. Mais à l’époque, les mères de famille se dévouaient à la famille, donc elle était assez limitée. Elle m’a donné des leçons de dessin et j’ai appris très tôt dans ma vie », a partagé l’artiste avec notre journal. The Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) has received a new echocardiogram machine, which was identified as the hospital’s number one medical equipment need in 2017. This new echocardiogram machine has many advantages over the hospital’s old machine. The previous machine did not produce images as clear, resulting in some patients having to travel to another hos- pital to have the procedure done again. This new machine is also adjustable to all technicians and includes contrast and stress echocardiograms. The echocardiogram machine cost $150,360.
