SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY 2021 -2026

The societal, economic and technological consequences of the UK government’s target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050 cannot be overstated. Universities like Imperial must step up to provide the solutions, collaborations and skills necessary to help us get there, while also working to make society fair and equitable. Our new Strategy outlines how we plan to address these environmental challenges to create a sustainable university for the future and become a carbon net-zero institution by 2040. Sustainability will shape Imperial’s plans and activities at all levels and across all campuses. The College’s Sustainability Strategy Advisory Group was established in 2020 to ensure that we turn this notion into reality and, in the context of our considerable but finite resources, set a credible roadmap for its delivery. Our vision for the Strategy can be viewed here.
